Inspired Light Images Tutor Biography

Inspired Light Images is run by Kay Goddard LRPS and Will Barton. They are based on the borders of Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire between the market towns of Hitchin and Bedford. Kay is a qualified professional tutor and photographer and has been teaching photography for over 14 years. She has an instinctive ability to encourage others to explore their own individuality and creativity of expression. Her passion is photographing landscapes and the natural world.
Will is a passionate Landscape & Travel photographer and enjoys passing on his in-depth knowledge of technical subjects & experience of capturing light at its most inspirational.
Joining the gang is Tracey Gladstone, a talented photographer who is an invaluable member of the tutoring team.
Between Will & Kay, they have an extensive knowledge of the areas in which the photography workshops and courses are run. Through experience they know exactly when to visit which location, depending on the season, weather and of course the light…

Kay Goddard LRPS
Kay's love of the natural world fuelled her passion for wildlife, nature and landscape photography that began at an early age, photographing anything that had fur or feathers!
"I love capturing the details, expressions and essence of a subject"

Kay is an experienced film and digital SLR user, and when not teaching, photographs outdoors whenever possible. She still loves to use film when she can, especially monochrome, spending time in the darkroom -something she still enjoys when given the chance!

Kay has an instinctive ability to encourage others to explore their own individuality and
creativity of expression, and this is borne out by the excellent results her students achieve.
Kay has a wealth of experience in both field craft and teaching, having taught Photography and Imaging (both traditional and digital) for City & Guilds at both Level 1 and 2 for over 14 years. Her favourite 'learning arena' has always been outside - she loves to take students out and about with their cameras and firmly believes that practical tuition is far more enjoyable, both from a teaching and learning perspective!
She is a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society and a member of the Institute for Learning.
"It is so lovely to see that light bulb moment when someone suddenly sees the image they imagined, actually happen!"

Will Barton LRPS
Fanatical about photography for getting on for 20 years! Will first picked up a camera at the age of 10 and has never looked back. Will enjoys nothing more than the opportunity to combine his love of the outdoors with his passion for photography. It’s this passion for the outdoors and the natural elements that really comes across in his pictures.

Will has an incredible talent for capturing the light, whether in the urban cityscape or natural settings. His speciality is working with low light. An experienced panoramic photographer, probably most well known for his evocative London panoramic photography. He has an in-depth knowledge of many of the more technical aspects of photography and is evangelical about “getting the shot right” in camera.

Will is an experienced Digital SLR user but grew up using film cameras. A self confessed (but recovering) equipment freak, Will has used everything from 35mm SLRs to 617 Panoramic set-ups.

Will has recently been awarded his Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society distinction award. Please see his successful LRPS Panel here.

Tracey's love of colours and textures manifests itself in a love of macro photography. Photography is in her blood following in the footsteps of her father, also a very keen nature photographer. Tracey has been behind various cameras, from film SLR's and medium format cameras and more recently DSLR's, capturing both nature and people for well over 12 years and, coupled with her teaching qualifications is a valuable asset to the Inspired Light Images team.
