Alpine Photography Holiday in Summer 2013

19th September 2012
Kay has just returned from a trip to Austria with lots of inspiration for an Alpine Summer Photography Course!

Will and I have been looking at extending the workshop capabilities and have been scouting possible locations.
Will is keen to move forward with Lake and Peak District workshops and I went on the Alpine search!

The area we have in mind is one of unspoilt beauty, nestled in the Steiermark region of Austria and more popular with Winter Sports than summer pursuits. This means the slopes and valleys are really peaceful in the summertime and lend themselves perfectly to photographic forays as they are not crowded and touristy!
The photographic opportunities are vast, from the chocolate box villages with their window boxes and carved balconies dripping with flowers, the rustic barns and cows wearing traditional embroidered cowbell collars, to the mountains, still topped with snow, waterfalls tumbling down into alpine streams and lakes, wild flowers and the majestic Dachstein Glacier with it's Skywalk and Ice Palace!
The planned base is a lovely, independently run Pension that is well situated for exploring the area.
We also have the opportunity to link with a local, professional photographer who has published several photographic books on the region.

The timing for this photographic holiday would be the end of June - beginning of July 2013, so we are keen to hear from anyone who is interested in making the most of this opportunity. We would like to have something confirmed by end of December if possible!

Please let us know if you are interested - you can email us at or use the guestbook comments box. You could also leave us a message on our Facebook Page.

We look forward to hearing from you!
